What it is
PMI Specialists offers in-field hardness testing to verify that welds, components, and critical assets meet their material specifications, rapidly and accurately, and without the downtime of removing samples for laboratory testing.
Where it applies
The service covers a wide range of oil & gas equipment and structures:
- Drilling rigs and offshore platforms
- Pipelines and flowlines
- Refineries and petrochemical plants
- Pressure vessels, valves, and pumps
- Rotating equipment and storage tanks
- Structural supports
- Welds, including heat-affected zones
Testing methods we offer
UCI (Ultrasonic Contact Impedance)
A fast, semi-destructive method using a diamond probe, well suited to welds, pipes, valves, and tanks.
Rebound (Leeb)
A non-destructive approach that measures rebound velocity, ideal for large or heavy components.
Telebrinell
An alternative to standard Brinell testing that enables hardness measurements on large, immovable components without sample removal.
Why it matters
Verifying hardness in place confirms material condition, heat-treat integrity, and weld quality on operating assets, keeping equipment in specification and in service while avoiding the cost and delay of lab turnaround.
On-site hardness testing
Portable hardness verification on installed equipment.
